Military physical fitness

Military physical fitness and health is extremely important for military service.

These days it is highly likely you will deploy to a combat zone.

Being in shape can save your life.

I’m not just talking about the ability to perform acts of physical strength.
Soldiers that get wounded have a higher chance of survival if they are
in a high state of physical fitness.

All branches have a military physical fitness program.
Usually they suck.

Too many old school command elements believe that getting into good physical fitness should involve an hour long Physical Training (PT) session every morning.

We used to be able to get 3 times the workout in half the time just by doing some research on the subject and we  justified it with higher PT scores.

They also believe that their military physical fitness tests are a good gauge for
a units physical readiness.

There is some truth to it but the tests aren’t comprehensive enough.

The military is usually years behind what actually works. However there are unit commands that take it upon themselves to implement programs that work and don’t violate the rules.

Your best solution is to get and keep yourself in shape.
This way you can achieve maximum scores on any military physical fitness test.
Do not count on the military to make you high speed.
Most people in the military do the bare minimum to get by.
That includes your commanders.

10 Steps to Basic Training Success

Men's Infidel Tee

Men's Infidel T-Shirt It doesn't matter if you are raiding villages or raiding an open ... [More]

Price: $25.95

You might call it Boot Camp, Basic Training
or my personal favorite was Summer Camp.
It doesn’t matter which branch of service
you are in, the initial training process
is difficult for everyone.

The military is taking a civilian and stripping
them down to a base so that the individual
can be rebuilt into a working product.

This has been done successfully over and over for generations.

** I will refer to the Drill Instructors, Drill Sergeants, Fuzzy Bunnies or whatever
they are called in any branch as Cadre.

Here are some simple rules to follow that will make things much
easier for you.

Don’t be afraid.
I’m not suggesting that you are scared of things, what I mean is don’t let your
anxiety and fear of the unknown take control.
Remember, people do this everyday.
People much weaker than you.
Understand that no one is looking to weed you out.
As long as you remain just another body you can
pretty much cruise through without any fear.

The quieter you become the more you will hear.
SHUT UP!!!!
This is one of the hardest lessons to teach.
People always want to talk.
Especially when they are nervous and anxious about something unknown.
I am not saying that you should be unsocial, I’m telling you to do
lots more observing than yakking. There will be enough time to
get to know the people you are working with.
Most people get into trouble, or show up on the RADAR, because they
weren’t paying attention when it mattered.
This is also the kind of stuff that gets people
hurt or killed in dangerous situations.

Follow the directions of leadership not your peers.
The people in charge of you will give you the orders you need to follow.
If you pay attention (see previous item) you will know exactly what to do.
Don’t start following that idiot that decides he knows enough to start
giving orders.
Unless they were put in charge by the Cadre, they aren’t
in charge.

Do Not listen to or repeat any gossip or rumors.
This is one of the most irritating things in the military, not just Basic.
It happens constantly. Somebody over hears something and repeats it.
Then everyone is panicking and acting crazy. Don’t fall for it.
Sometimes people like me start these rumors. Other times stupid people
listen to people like me and don’t understand sarcasm or irony.
Starting the rumor can bring unwanted attention, I know this from experience.
When this stuff happens just sit back, stay calm and laugh at the idiots.

Prepare physically.
If you don’t already know this then you might want to step back
and do more research.
When you are in great shape for Basic it is sooooo much easier.

Google these or buy P90X.
p90x yoga video
p90x stretch video

I use these three workout programs when training.
Insanity is my favorite because you don’t need
equipment and you can use it in the hotel room.

If you use any of these you will sail through Basic Training.
10 Minute Trainer

Insanity

P90X

Prepare mentally.
If you haven’t already taken the ASVAB then get help preparing and score high.

Get yourself psyched up to do this.

Watch some motivating, military movies and read some books on what you
would like to do.

Stay focused.
No matter how bad you think things are remember the prize.
You joined for a reason. Remember that reason.
Think about how proud everyone will be when you get home.

Mimic the successful.
Watch the people that are doing things the right way.
Also watch the Cadre and how they walk and talk.
Copy that behavior but still be yourself.
There were a couple of guys that got promoted the
last week of Basic Training when I went.
Be like them. You’ll know them when you see them.

Don’t get comfortable.
Once you get settled in and things normalize don’t
start screwing off.
Always stay aware and never let down your guard.
If your bored then study the materials you’ve been
given. Being more proficient is what will get
you ahead in your career.

Uphold the Oath.
Remember, the oath you took matters.
Uphold it and keep the country safe and free.

Here is what we covered:

  1. Don’t be afraid.
  2. The quieter you become the more you will hear.
  3. Follow the directions of leadership not your peers.
  4. Do Not repeat any gossip or rumors.
  5. Prepare physically.
  6. Prepare mentally.
  7. Stay focused.
  8. Mimic the successful.
  9. Don’t get comfortable.
  10. Uphold the Oath.

What to expect.

People are always wondering what will happen
when they get to Basic Training.

After Basic they wonder what will happen
at the next level of training.

Then, of course, what will happen at their
first assignment.

When you look at the military from the outside
you think about how difficult it must be.
You might imagine that it is an impossible
task and you could never do it.

This is not true, at all.

If you want an understanding of the military
then all you need to do is observe the world
you are in now.

Watch how people treat one another.
Take yourself out of the equation. Be an observer.

Notice how teachers or bosses treat students
or employees. How do these students and employees
treat each other?

What you see is what basic training will be,
and all of the other levels of your career.

The only difference is the set of rules that are
in place.

The rules are easy to follow because they are
explained to you in such a simplistic way.
There is nothing difficult about Boot Camp,
Basic Training.

What makes it scary to approach are all of
the hyped up stories you hear from people.
People try to make it sound like some sort of
nearly impossible task.

Why do they do this?
To make themselves look like something
big. “Look at what I did. I’m awesome.”
People do this all the time in order to
validate themselves to others.
It isn’t bad, it’s just what we do as humans.

Now, remember what I wrote earlier about
observing the people around you?
That is what you will experience in the military.
From day one and beyond.

If you go into it knowing that you are being
re-conditioned, brain washed etc… then
dealing with it is easy. Just follow.
Observe the similarities of your new environment
and compare them to your time as a civilian.
The same idiots have different names and faces.
This includes the people training you.
Of course you don’t want to let the people training
you to know that you think they’re idiots.

Some of the people will be great and inspirational.
Emulate them. They also know that they’re working
with idiots, but won’t let on to it.

The entire process of entering the military
is made to be simple. It might not be easy every
step of the way.

Once you see the morons that
get in, you will remember this article and
laugh.

All of the old timers that tell you to just
keep your mouth shut and do what your
told, are correct. BUT don’t lose your
ability to think for yourself. DO NOT
lose your individuality by becoming a
mindless robot that will blindly follow orders.

At first during the initial training stages
you just need to pretend you are a mindless
dolt.

Never forget your Oath. You are there to
Protect and Defend the Constitution of the
United States against enemies both foreign
AND Domestic. That is the first and most important
part of the Oath.

If the officers appointed above you are not
upholding that first part of the Oath then
they are in violation and are not truly
leaders of the United States military.

They must be dealt with. No matter the cost
to your career.

Stay true to yourself, maintain confidence
and confront fear. Strength will come from
within and becoming a great person can
happen by using the military to learn about
yourself and others.

A book that helped my military and civilian career
was How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
It’s an old book, but it taught me how to get people,
to want, to give me what I needed. Even high ranking
NCO’s and Officers.

When I came back from Southeast Asia you abandon me.
You put me in a corner of the basement, cold and alone,
under the dirty laundry.

When a great man, of strength and character pulled me out.
He fed me gave me a reason and purpose that fulfilled
your needs in Grenada and later in Panama.

When an innocent nation was taken by force I stood
proud and freed people that needed help. You cheered
me and made me feel loved and needed.

Then you were told that what I did wasn’t that good.
You were told that I didn’t do enough.
You believed that, and once again you abandoned me.

You let me weaken. Slowly weaken. You used me for political
distraction and I rose to the challenge, not for politics,
for pride. Pride in what I do for you.

I was being weakened again. It was the weakest I had been,
since my punishment in the basement.
Then it happened.
That day I told you was going to happen, did.
I was angry. Angrier than I had been in 60 years.

I came from all over the planet to let you know that I am here.
Here for retribution. Here to defend, by going on the offensive
for everything you are. You demanded of me everything, and
I wanted to give.

Even in my weakened state I didn’t care what the price
would be, because I love you.

Now, once again you listen to those that secretly hate me.
When you show your love for me, they hate you,
You simply refuse to see their hate, because they give
you things, free things, meaningless things.

I was trained to embrace E Pluribus Unum.
You have been conditioned by them to divide yourselves,
make yourselves separate from each other, look at each other with
contempt.
So, you look at me with contempt.

I have grown. I now understand that you no longer have love for me.
I know this because the people you tell to oversee me, forsake me
on your behalf.

You no longer deserve the colors that I gave to you and kept for you.
Give them back to me now.
Maybe some day you will earn them back, but until then I will keep
them safe from the poisons that infect your mind.

When the day comes and you finally begin to hate the poison.
When you fight it and truly want it gone forever.
When you want it replaced with the original Liberty and Freedom
that was once a part of your beginnings.
I will rise from the basement, in which I have placed myself this time,
and crush the evil that has befallen you.

You the American voter.

Me the American soldier.

This Budget Sucks!!!!

Men's Infidel Tee

Men's Infidel T-Shirt It doesn't matter if you are raiding villages or raiding an open ... [More]

Price: $25.95

What a stupid way to run an organization.
You get a budget and have 12 months to use the budget.
If you don’t use all of the money in that 12 months
you get less money next year.

Hmmm, this is a no brainer. Use all of the money
so you aren’t penalized next time. Even if you
don’t need the money, buy a bunch of crap to show
that it is needed for your organization to survive.

Thankfully no one would ever take advantage
of such a system. That’s why it works.

NOT!!!! (Wayne’s World)

In the military if we didn’t use all of the unit budget
before 1 October we wouldn’t get as much the next year.
The solution was to burn through any ‘extra’ money
before the end of September.

Would you consider this wasteful?

The military isn’t the only group of government morons
that follow this broken system.

Lets begin to spitball a solution:

You get rewarded for saving money.

Here’s the scenario.

You get $1000 dollars to spend this year.
The number is based on an average of the past
‘x’ amount of years.

If you can operate within that budget then great.
If you need more, then we give it to you.
The accountants come in and assess why you needed
to go over budget. If this happens too many times,
or is excessive, then your services will no longer
be needed.

Seems simple and of course all of you opportunists
see the potential flaws in such simplicity.

Using our example, if you were to run operations
for $900 instead of $1000 then you get a $100 dollar
credit for the following fiscal year that can be used
for some some unforeseen need that comes up.

If that extra $100 isn’t used, then you get rewarded
with some kind of “You are Awesome” career booster
in your records.

REMEMBER this is not personal money
this is for an operating unit and you are in charge.
Career ‘atta boys are important to you.

When people become used to this type of reward system
it will be used for promotions and raises for a job well done.

Being able to operate at peak or increased efficiency,
while staying under budget is a skill that everyone,
hiring or promoting, would want.

We start by using this system in military units.
Small non-combat units of 3000 people or less all over the world.
It’s the perfect test ground and won’t disrupt the
the entire, worthless, government all at once.

When successful, bump the process up to the next highest level.
Eventually the military will be running at great efficiency,
for far less money than it does now.
The example can then be replicated to other agencies.

You’re Welcome America.

The Communist Takeover Of
America – 45 Declared Goals

You are about to read a list of 45 goals that found their way down the halls of our great Capitol back in 1963. As you read this, 39 years later, you should be shocked by the events that have played themselves out. I first ran across this list 3 years ago but was unable to attain a copy and it has bothered me ever since. Recently, Jeff Rense posted it on his site and I would like to thank him for doing so. http://www.rense.comCommunist Goals (1963) Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963Current Communist Goals EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Thursday, January 10, 1963 .

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

[From “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen]

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [“]united force[“] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

Note by Webmaster: The Congressional Record back this far has not be digitized and posted on the Internet.

It will probably be available at your nearest library that is a federal repository. Call them and ask them. Your college library is probably a repository. This is an excellent source of government records. Another source are your Congress Critters. They should be more than happy to help you in this matter. You will find the Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto interesting at this point.

1963- The Year That Changed America

By Greg Swank

12-4-2

Over the years, I have shared in debates and discussions regarding the current state of affairs in the U.S., and the changing social climate of this great nation. Since the “baby-boomer” generation, society and its culture have become noticeably different than the way it was 50 years ago. From the late 50’s to the 70’s a series of events took place contributing to the way we are currently living. However, like anything else, there has to be a starting point at which the wheels are put into motion. Sometimes it can be a single event, such as war, but more often, it is a series of events, some intentional, some planned, others unpredictable. There is always a pivotal point when things begin to change. I believe that time was 1963.

For my generation, some of the following will certainly stir old memories. If you born later, this may serve as a brief history lesson into the times your parents traveled through.

By 1963 television was the leading sources of entertainment. The public enjoyed a different type of programming back then. Lessons on life could be viewed weekly on “Leave it to Beaver” or “My Three Sons.” There were hero’s back then that never drew blood, “The Lone Ranger” and “The Adventures of Superman.” Cartoon series evolved, such as, “The Flintstones” and “The Jetsons” without messages of empowering the children, using vulgarities or demeaning parental guidance. Family’s could spend a weekend evening watching “Ed Sullivan,” “Bonanza” or “Gunsmoke.” For those who enjoyed thrill and suspense, we were blessed with “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and the “Twilight Zone.” ‘My Favorite Martian,” “Ozzie and Harriet,” “Donna Reed” and “Sea Hunt” also kept viewers entertained weekly.

Movie theaters were not multiplex units with 15 screens, rather, one single, giant big screen with adequate sound and hard seats without springs. “Tom Jones” had won the Academy award for best picture. “How The West Was Won,” “Cleopatra,” “Lily of the Fields,” “The Great Escape,” “The Birds,” and “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” were all box office hits.

By years end, “The Beatles” had played for the British Royal Family and were laying the groundwork to conquer the U.S. the following year. Eric Clapton began his journey to fame with Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Jim McCarty and their band, “The Yardbirds.” Out on the west coast the surf was beginning to rock’n’roll with “The Beach Boys” and their first song to reach the top ten list, “Surfin’ U.S.A.”

“Joys of Jell-O” recipes for quivering florescent foodstuff hit the stores. U.S. Postal rates went up to five cents for the first ounce. AT&T introduced touch-tone telephones. The Yankees played in the World Series again; but lost to the Dodgers in four straight. The government and NASA began the Apollo program.

This is just a brief snapshot of some things that were going on back in 1963. Remember?

While some of these events played an important role in the direction of change that affect us today, many of them were lost to much greater, more political events, that I believe put everything into motion.

On January 10, 1963, the House of Representative and later the Senate began reviewing a document entitled “Communist Goals for Taking Over America.” It contained an agenda of 45 separate issues that, in hindsight was quite shocking back then and equally shocking today. Here, in part, are some key points listed in that document.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

27. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

You can see the entire list on this web page – http://www.truthtrek.net/politics/takeover.htm

Now, I am not saying that the U.S. is under some kind of Communist control, but what I do find frightening, is of the 45 issues listed, nearly all of them have come to pass. Remember this was in January 1963.

In 1963 the news media showed women burning their bras as the women’s liberation movement took off with the publishing of “The Feminine Mystique” by Betty Friedan. Martin Luther King was jailed in April and civil unrest was being brought to the forefront. On August 28th the media brought us live coverage of the march on Washington and Dr. Kings famous “I had a dream” speech. The Cuban missile crisis found its way in to our homes and our nation was gearing up for conflict.

By September of 1963 we had lost some very influential people, Pope John XXIII, Robert Frost, and country legend Patsy Cline, to name a few. In the early hours of November 22nd we learned of the quiet passing of C.S. Lewis and hours later we were brought to our knees when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and our nation mourned.

So you see, while long since forgotten, 1963 could very well have been, one of the most important years since our founding fathers provided us with the Constitution of the United States. Which brings me to one final and extremely important decision that was made during this most provocative year.

On June 17, 1963 the U.S. Supreme Court concluded that any Bible reciting or prayer, in public schools, was deemed unconstitutional.

While American’s have endured great prosperity over the past 40 years we have also lost our moral compass and direction. In reviewing the research, data supports 1963 as a focal point, demonstrating a downward slope in our moral and social decline through 2001.

Certainly, one would have to agree that all of these events have had a profound impact on the way our current social structure has been changed. Personally, if I had to choose one specific event that has demonstrated the demoralization of our country, it would have to be the decision of the U.S Supreme Court in June of 1963.

But there is always “hope.” As always, I welcome your comments and can easily be reached. Thanks for the response to “Daddy, What’s Fluoride?” My email is: greg@truthtrek.net

It used to be that the enlisted ranks weren’t very educated.
Officers had all the smarts and had to keep things organized and on track.
Well, a lot has changed.

Ever since public education has pretty much been
mandated the average intelligence of soldiers has increased.

Also people are volunteers so management is easier
than it would be with conscripts.

So if we have a force filled with mostly intelligent people
why do we keep this old system of officer and enlisted separation?
Tradition.

Stupid military tradition is one of the biggest
hang ups the armed services has.

So why don’t we come up with a solution that maintains good management
structure but utilizes assets more efficiently? The answer is of course,
It can’t happen it’s the military.

Here’s the idea.

Give more responsibility to the enlisted ranks as far as management,
discipline, day to day operations and training.
This would also include a pay raise across the board.

Officers will be scaled down to dealing with administrative tasks,
equipment procurement, organizing large operations, cross service
interactions, the public, politicians and any other crap the
real soldiers don’t care about.

This is sort of how things are now, but I’m suggesting a much bigger
change.

Why can’t an E-8 be a company commander in the Army?
These days to get that E-8 promotion you need a college degree.
Which means you would out qualify an O-3 for the job because of
experience and a degree.
Sorry Captain your services are no longer needed here.

Now, how much money did we just save the tax payers,
even with a 15% pay raise for the enlisted ranks.
And we didn’t weaken the forces at all. Hell we
probably saved some lives by firing the idiot.

The officer ranks will be reduced quite a bit, but that’s
o.k. We will reduce the number of R.O.T.C units possibly
getting rid of the program all together. We solved
the commissioning issue in a previous post

Get rid of the Academy’s.

Keeping these two elements separate is stupid and wasteful.
The idea here isn’t to eliminate, but to merge the ranks
into one cohesive entity that understands itself top to bottom.

When I presented this idea to people over the years
it’s amazing how some of the responses are complete
disbelief. These people couldn’t comprehend how
something like this could even be conceptualized.

“A world without officers in total control of my life?
You should be shot for thinking like that.”

Speaking from experience a job is a job. You either
know your place or you are gone. I once worked in a unit that
didn’t wear uniforms, had longer hair and used first names.
That included the O-5 that did wear a uniform, most of the time.
We still did our jobs and bosses were still bosses.

Restructuring the military may hurt some egos initially
but the end result will be a much powerful force.

O.K. not gone but redesigned.

The dinosaur mentality that has lasted since the military’s birth must be extinguished.

The process goes like this.

You graduate high school and opt for active duty service.

Instead of getting into a military academy you must enlist
and complete a minimum of two years(24 months) before you can
apply to a military academy.

It doesn’t matter what branch you are in now or what branch when you apply.
Now what this does is give every service member real experience at the bottom.
My best commissioned leaders were prior enlisted.

The ring knockers were almost always assholes.

You will still have to be accepted to the academy of choice, but on top of high school academics, you will have real performance reports to submit along with any other education credits you may have squeezed in during your enlistment..

This will also create a much better environment in the academies because everyone will already know how to wipe their asses, military style, when they start their freshman year.

Yes they will still get a ball busting just like a SSG would going to Ranger school or whatever, fill in the blank, training there is now.

What about the college kids that go through ROTC?

Same rules apply, only they will be enlisted for 2 years with a college degree. Then they can apply for a commission.

Also people coming out of high school that never had the opportunity or knowledge of getting an academy slot will now be in contention with every other potential leader. This way the true leaders that never new they could lead, can kick ass.

What this type of system will do, is break down that stupid class system that everyone thinks is soooo important to maintain discipline and structure.

The reason there are problems with discipline in the military is piss poor management. The leadership courses in all branches teach the same high quality skills needed to get the job done. The problems occur because of laziness and complacence. Just like the civilians. Go figure.

But what about the really dumb guys. Simple answer is, they don’t get in. Improve yourself and re-apply for enlistment.

There are standards in place now that prevent the low intelligence options from gaining employment. This would change as quality increases, the standards would get higher. This is a good thing.

You’re a high school drop out? Great, get your diploma or GED and get a two year degree from whatever accredited institution will take you and that will prove to us that you are now worthy. And you got to improve yourself. You’re welcome dumb ass. Get on the bus.

I know that the “old guard” will fight this, but if these dick head officers can take away the Black Beret of the Rangers then it is time for them to go. (I do not like Rangers, never have. They didn’t deserve to have their colors taken.)

This idea is far better than the one currently in place.

Are their holes and pitfalls in this that I’m not seeing? Absolutely.

It doesn’t change the fact that a modern day E-8 is smarter and, supposed to be, better educated than an O-3 was 40 years ago. Yet we are still using an antiquated system and under utilizing our resources for pride and tradition.

Being placed in charge doesn’t mean you can lead. Lets fix this.

Changing the Enlisted and Officer duties and relationship will be the next installment.
